Fry, Doris M.
Doris M. Fry, 83, of Marengo, died Sunday evening, July 11, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Doris is survived by her son, Randy and wife Jane of Marengo; three grandchildren, Samantha Esche and husband Matthew, Natalie Fry and Benjamin Fry; and a brother Lewis Turner and wife Allene of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, William Jr. and Ben.
Doris Mae Turner was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of William O. and Lina Trumpold Turner. She graduated from Marengo High School and attended the Cedar Rapids Beauty School in Cedar Rapids. Doris married Albert “Gene” Fry on May 27, 1946, at the Methodist parsonage in Marengo. She owned and operated Doris' Beauty Shop in Marengo for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marengo.
