Broxey, Sylvia I.
Sylvia I. Broxey, 100, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, in Brooklyn Center, Minn. She was born in Benton County, Iowa, and lived most of her life in Cedar Rapids before moving to Minnesota in 2005.
She is survived by her son, Harold (Doralee) of Plymouth, Minn.; her daughter, Maxine (Dean) Carlson of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Brett Broxey, Brenda Weiler and Scott Carlson; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed taking bus trips, attending potlucks at the YWCA, playing cards, dancing at the Eagles Club and traveling to Florida to spend Christmas with her daughter.
Sylvia left a legacy to be found in enjoying the simple pleasures of living a humble and grateful lifestyle.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in April at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, and she will rest in peace at the adjoining cemetery.
