Silver, Grace Evelyn
Grace Evelyn Silver, a longtime resident of Marion, passed away at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Marion by the Rev. Randy Bobzien. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her children, Wayne (Pamela J.) Silver of Cedar Rapids, Donna R. Hoppes of Ely and Pamela Diane Silver of Ely; grandchildren, Jeff (Melinda) Silver of Lisbon, Robert Silver of Marion, Shawn (Amy) Silver of Cedar Rapids, Cory Silver of Cedar Rapids and Justin Silver of Marion; five great-grandchildren, Allison, Dylan, Crystal Grace, Gabriel and Kaitlyn, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; a son-in-law, Gary Hoppes; five brothers and three sisters.
Grace was born Dec. 16, 1917, the daughter of Louis and Nellie (Wells) Wright, in Central City, Iowa. She married Edward L. Silver in 1945 at the chapel of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Des Moines. Grace was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Grace's memory.
