IOWA CITY -- An Aug. 13 event in Iowa City is expected to bring together local creative people, entrepreneurs, educators, techies, and anyone else who is passionate about something and wants to geek out in the new world order of business in the digital age.
BarcampICR will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St. The "unconference" encourages participants to show up and create their own agenda and discussion.
BarcampICR participants will find a projector, a room, an audience, and 20 minutes to do whatever they want. Attendees can host a discussion, perform an interpretive dance or give a presentation – all people and all topics are welcome.
Anyone with something to contribute or having the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join. Initial signups for presentations will be held between 9:30 and 10 a.m., with the presentations, discussions or talks (limited to 20-minute increments) scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Attending BarcampICR is free this first year, but you can get lunch and a t-shirt for $5. Lunch is set for 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Live streaming of the event is planned by SourceMedia Group through a link at www.TheGazette.com
