Ellen Havaron Krezek, 87, of Dysart, formerly of Clutier, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Interment will be held at Oneida Cemetery, near Clutier. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ellen was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Keystone, to Charles and Minnie (Peters) Havran. She graduated from Keystone High School and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in country schools prior to her marriage. On Jan. 24, 1951, she was united in marriage to Ed Krezek in Belle Plaine. The couple farmed and made their home in Clutier. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2010.
Ellen also worked at the Clutier Elevator and as a cook at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. In her leisure, she enjoyed bowling in leagues in Traer and Keystone. She enjoyed dancing and membership in the Polka Club, playing cards and gardening. She will be remembered as an excellent baker.
She is survived by her children, Ed (Cindy) Krezek of Waterloo, Kathy (David) Larson of Marengo and Sue (Daniel) Sherman of Marengo; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Travis) Lang, Ryan (Natasha) Harrison and Nicholas (Tonya) Harrison; her great-grandchildren, Kelcey and Paul Harrison, Tyler Lang, Leigha, Madison and Daniel McNickle; her great-great-granddaughter, Ka'Javell Nesby; brothers, Dale (Leota) Havran of Norway and Dennis Havran of Milo; and her sister, Dorla Hilmer of Vinton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Carol Havran, and brother-in-law, Otis Hilmer.
