Hittenmiller, Elizabeth N. 'Betty'
Elizabeth N. “Betty” Hittenmiller, 86, of 606 Second St. NE, Dyersville, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at 5:25 p.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa. The family will greet friends and relatives from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a Scripture wake service will be held at 3 p.m., and a Dyersville American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of the America's will hold a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Services for Elizabeth N. Hittenmiller will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, with the Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be held in St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville.
Elizabeth was born on March 15, 1926, in Jesup, Iowa, daughter of Matt and Bertha Marie (Beeter) Demuth. She was a graduate of the Jesup High School. On Oct. 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Myron Hittenmiller in Jesup.
She was an avid bowler, gardener, cross word puzzler and card player. Betty was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, the Dyersville Catholic Daughters of the America's, St. Rose Court #350 and the Dyersville American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Myron “Flick” Hittenmiller of Dyersville; her four children, Michael “Mike” (Linda) Hittenmiller of Davenport, Jan (Gary “Pink”) Kruse of New Vienna, Bill (Laurie) Hittenmiller of Shueyville, and Ray (Mary) Hittenmiller of Rio Nido, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; and five brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for Betty may be given to Beckman High School.
