Merle "Bud" Rosdail, 97, of Carroll, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at the Accura Health Care Center in Carroll. Services with military rites: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Bud was born on Aug. 19, 1920, in Walford, the son of Ike and Ethel (McClintock) Rosdail. He married Catherine "Kay" Early on July 25, 1942, in Cedar Rapids.
Bud was the parts manager at Case IH and Elmer's Dual Wheel for several years before retiring to Sun City, Ariz. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and proudly served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He enjoyed traveling, horse racing, pheasant hunting, fishing, following the Iowa Hawkeyes, playing poker and his daily martini. He forever will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include a daughter, Dona "Roz" (Rick) Schultes of Templeton, Iowa; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Rosdail of Centreville, Md. He also is survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay; son, Neil; one brother; and two sisters.
