Johnson County Board of Supervisors election forum set for Wednesday

IOWA CITY - Johnson County voters will be able to hear directly from the candidates for the vacant Board of Supervisors seat during a public forum Wednesday.
The League of Women Voters of Johnson County will host the forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Iowa City Hall, 410 E. Washington St., with candidates Democrat Royceann Porter and Republican Phil Hemingway.
The winner of the election will fill the position previously held by Kurt Friese, who died Oct 26. Election Day is Dec. 18, and early voting begins Dec. 5.
Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for preregister to vote and request a mailed absentee ballot. Voter registration is available on Election Day, requiring an ID and proof of address. For more information, visit the Johnson County Auditor's website at jcauditor.com or call 319-356-6004.
