WILLIAM RANSHAW Cedar Rapids William A. Ranshaw, 87, a resident of Cottage Grove Place died there on Monday, March 2, 2015. Services with military rites at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Burial at the Oak Hill Cemetery, near Tiffin. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Phares of St. Peters, Mo.; and a son, Steven (Jean) of Waxhaw, N.C. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brianna, Katie, Kyle, Tyler, John, Matthew and Sarah; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ranshaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joanna; a son, Craig; and a brother, Kenneth. Bill was born on Jan. 14, 1928, in Oxford, the son of George and Bessie Hebl Ranshaw. He married Joanna M. Files on Feb. 4, 1951, in Tiffin. Joanna passed away in 2012. Bill worked in the accounting department at Penford and retired from there after more than 20 years of service. After retirement, he worked at Highway Construction for several years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the National Association of Accountants, V.F.W., American Legion, the Masons and proudly served in the Army during World War II. Bill enjoyed participating in the Shriner Foot Patrol, woodworking, coin collecting and the time spent with his friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
