VONNEDELLA F. HOFFMANN Hiawatha Vonnedella F. Hoffmann, 80, of Hiawatha, was peacefully carried home to Christ on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at ManorCare Health Services, Cedar Rapids, surrounded by her loving family. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha, conducted by the Rev. Daniel Krueger. The family will also greet friends one hour before the service Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at the Belden Finnish Cemetery in Belden, N.D., at a later date. Vonnedella was born March 27, 1937, in Belden, N.D., the daughter of August and Myrtle (Morrell) Aho. She graduated from the North Dakota State School of Science. Vonnedella was the acting administrator for Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Stanley, N.D. On July 16, 1961, in Stanley, she was united in marriage to Ervin Hoffmann. Then the couple moved to Hiawatha, where she was employed at the Eastern Iowa Breeders Association. Vonnedella was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, where she helped start the altar guild and assisted in the formation of Little Lambs Christian Preschool. She was also very active with Sunday school throughout her life. Vonnedella was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Ervin Hoffmann of Hiawatha; her children, Suellen (Brian) Leimkuehler of Perrysburg, Ohio, Keith Hoffmann and Daniel Hoffmann of Hiawatha; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Baldwin of Maumee, Ohio, Mark (Margaret) Leimkuehler of Chicago and Christine Leimkuehler of Perrysburg; siblings, James C. Aho, Allan Aho, Myrtle Kawalski, Betty Juma and Rita Footh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vonnedella was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
