Gray, Betty I.
Betty I. Gray, 89, of Delaware, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at United Parish Church in Earlville, by Pastor Jill Mack. Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Clifton Murdoch Funeral Home in Earlville and one hour before services Saturday, at the church. Burial: Pineview Cemetery, Delaware.
Betty was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Delhi, the daughter of Charles and Opal (Hansel) Downs. She married Raymond E. Gray on Feb. 22, 1940. He passed away April 14, 1970.
Betty is survived by her children, Roger Gray of Delaware, Eilene (Dave) Carty of Earlville, Yvonne (Doug) Helmrichs of Manchester, Darlene Fjelstul of Hopkinton and Marlene (Dale) Jaeger of Hopkinton; a daughter in-law, Karen Gray of Delhi; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and siblings, Cecil (Donna) Downs, Donna (Verle) Hankins, Shirley (Earl) Lighting, and Kenny Downs.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, Charles and Opal Downs; a son, Ronnie on Feb. 27, 2011; and siblings, Don Downs, Dorothy Reiger and Bernard Downs.
