Mead, Greta M.
Greta M. Mead, 80, of Delhi, died March 14, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Greta was born May 9, 1932, in Manchester, the daughter of Aulden and Mildred (Frentress) Hansel. Greta graduated from Manchester High School in 1949 and was employed at that time by Boland Hospital.
Greta was united in marriage to Frank E. Mead on May 15, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Greta was a housewife until 1952, when Greta and Frank moved to Delhi, where they were administrators of the Delaware County Care Facility for 38 years. Greta was a caregiver, nurse, mentor, dietitian, cook, and office manager to many challenged people at the county care facility. Greta's heart was into making life better for people with challenges.
Greta loved being with family and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Greta loved to sing and sang at many functions. Greta also enjoyed cooking and trying new dishes, and decorating and flower arranging. In her later years, Greta enjoyed painting pictures, which was a hidden talent.
Greta was a member of the United Methodist Church in Delhi and the Hannah Circle. Greta was Potentate's Lady of the El Kahir Temple in 1988. Greta and Frank enjoyed 22 years of wintering in Arizona.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank of Delhi; three children, Mary (Bill) Nading of Manchester, Marcia (Steve) Intorf of Delhi and Allen (Tina) Mead of Delhi; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrna Milroy of Manchester and Gayle Jensen of California; brothers-in-law, Robert (Barb) Mead of Manchester and Lawrence Lillibridge of Arizona; sister-in-law, Carol Buchanan of Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aulden and Mildred Hansel; brother-in-law, Mervin Milroy; and sister-in-law, Helen Lillibridge.

Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, at the United Methodist Church in Delhi, by Pastor Lorraine Hartman. Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and also one hour before services at the church on Monday. Inurnment: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
