Connie M. Lynch Carder, 65, of Coralville, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Connie chose to be cremated. Her family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. A memorial Mass will begin at
10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville. The Rev. Chuck Adam will officiate. Private burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City.
Instead of flowers and plants, the family suggests that memorials be directed to the American Lung Association, Stead Family Children's Hospital or Friends of the Iowa City Animal Foundation. Social distancing guidelines are in place and masks are required. Thank you.
On Dec. 31, 1955, in Iowa City, Connie was born to James and Helen (Fox) Lynch. Growing up on Bowery Street in Iowa City, Connie graduated from Regina High School in 1973. She met and later married Dan Carder on June 28, 1986, in Iowa City.
Connie worked for the University of Iowa for 40 years, retiring in 2013. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her daughters and her grandchildren. Her doggies also brought her immense joy. Connie loved reading, traveling, the mountains, her Ford Mustang and cheering on her Cubs.
Survivors include her husband, Dan; daughters, Kelsey Carder Adam (Jared) of Cedar Rapids and Brittany Carder Slaubaugh (Dan) of North Liberty; her grandchildren, Grayson, Madelyn and Hendrick; siblings, Brenda Vestal (Allan) of Tiffin, Jammie Goedken (Tom) of Solon, Jim Lynch (Jill) of Coralville and Dawn Nettnin (Fred) of Chicago; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents.
