Lorraine Mary Katherine Shalla was born March 20, 1931, in Richmond, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Arvilla (Welte) Shalla. She attended and graduated from Brighton High School. On Oct. 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Virgil E. Davis Sr. For many years the couple lived in Washington, where they raised their family. Later in life she moved to Amana to be near other family members.
Lorraine was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother first and foremost, she dearly loved her family. She was one who never met a stranger, never forgot your name, and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with you either on the phone or in person. Lorraine would eat her desserts first before the rest of the meal! She liked listening to country western music, watching racing with her husband and other family members, enjoying the simple pleasures in life.
Her family includes her four children, Rick Davis (Leann) of Walford, Virgil Davis Jr. (Katherine) of Washington, Iowa, Dixie Gorsh (John) of Oxford and Craig Davis (Terry) of Amana; grandchildren, Alisa, Amber, Adam, Jim, Misty, Jessica, Barbara, Clayton, Sonya, Melissa, Lacie, Brandi and Austin; and great-grandchildren, Brynna, Haidyn, and Ava.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
