Glenn Lecil Greenlee was born Aug. 1, 1927, near North English, Iowa, a son of Lecil Ray and Naoma Fern (Moore) Greenlee. He grew up in Iowa County where he attended Berry Country School and later graduated from North English High School.
Glenn was united in marriage to Thelma Ruth Kelley in North English on Feb. 3, 1948. They lived and farmed 12 years in the Webster area before moving to their present farm, near North English, in 1960. Glenn enjoyed farming, sitting on his front porch and watching the traffic go by and watching television. He farmed all of his life. He became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in May 2013. He died at the care center Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the age of 86 years.
He is survived by sons, Mark (Charline) Greenlee of North English and Alan (Kathy) Greenlee of Marengo; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Greenlee of South English; and a sister, Naoma Houser of Keota.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Thelma in December 1987.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. The Rev. Michelle Williamson will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the English Valley Care Center.
