Spurr, Robert 'Bob' F.
Robert “Bob” F. Spurr, 85, of Galena, Ill., died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Midwest Medical Center from complications of Parkinson's disease. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Galena, and where friends may call after 9 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Galena VFW and American Legion Club. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, is assisting the family.
Bob was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Galena, the son of Frank and Anna Edna (Speth) Spurr. He attended Galena High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Donna Vincent on Sept. 29, 1956. Bob worked for Rockwell Collins and retired in 1989. Upon retirement, he moved back to Galena to live in the family home. Bob was a member of the Galena Foundation, Galena Historical Society and served on the Galena City Council. He was a devoted, husband, father and grandfather and our source of enduring wisdom. His family will cherish all the fond memories shared.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna; his children, Randy Spurr of Albuquerque, N.M., Machelle (Scot) Enright of Cedar Rapids, and Robbie (Sandy) Spurr of Carrollton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and Dick; and a daughter, Debbie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Galena Foundation, Galena Historical Society or Westminster Presbyterian Church in Galena, Ill.
