Daffodils are a sign of spring, hope

Across the Cedar Rapids Corridor, 36,000 daffodils were delivered last week from Peck's Flower and Garden Shop, our hosting venue, to individuals and cancer patients via the Gems of Hope volunteers. Special thanks to our ‘Hope Blooms' presenting sponsor, Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center, to the many supporting sponsors, both financial and in-kind and last, but not least, the scores of volunteers. Without you, there would be no daffodils.
As you may know, Gems of Hope celebrated its 10-year anniversary last year and today still, I am humbled at the generosity our community has continued to show us in embracing our mission of bringing hope to cancer patients and their families.
Hope does bloom in many ways and when you see a yellow daffodil, know that this flower is our first sign of spring and a sign of hope for our area cancer patients.
Again, a sincere thank you to you all.
