Godbey, Charles 'Chuck' D.
Charles “Chuck” D. Godbey, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, in his home following a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home by Chaplain Joseph Kane. Burial: Morning Sun, Iowa at a later date. Friends may visit from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday and after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; children, Jared Godbey, Travis (Joanna) Godbey and Kate Godbey, all of Cedar Rapids, and John Godbey, Jeff (Tammy) Godbey, Lori Moline and Joan (Jeff) Pietan, all of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brothers, Jim (Jan) Cox, Ralph (Linda) Godbey and Tom (Loretta) Godbey.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Ann Bowser.
Charles Dean Godbey was born Nov. 26, 1945, in Waterloo, the son of Ralph and Marjorie Beatrice (Fernau) Godbey. He married Jennifer Diane Baker on Oct. 2, 1982, in Nashua. He was a lifetime member and retiree of Local 89. He also served his country in the Navy.
Chuck enjoyed classic cars, hunting, fishing, and Iowa football.
The family requests memorials to be directed to the American Lung Association instead of flowers.
