Kenney, Mary J.
Mary J. Kenney, 90, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at St. Anne's Home in Fort Wayne, Ind., following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Osterhaus. Private family Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 2 until 5 p.m. Friends may also visit after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include three daughters, Jo Marie (John) Zielinski of Ocean Springs, Miss., Mary Jean (Steve) Fauchier and Julie Kenney of Fort Wayne, Ind.; grandchildren, Flip Netolicky, Brett Netolicky, J.J. Zielinski, Mandi Lagergren, Marie Fauchier, Marla Fauchier and Melissa Receveur; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (1997), three brothers and one sister.
Mary JoAnne Kenney was born Jan. 3, 1920, in Holbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Mayme (Cash) Scanlan. She married Robert Raymond Kenney on Feb. 20, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a secretary for Hynek Insurance Co. for many years. Mary was a long time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She loved helping care for her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
