Douglas Lloyd Peacock, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014. Family and friends will gather to remember Doug from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a special sharing of memories at 6 p.m.
Survivors include his mother, Maryline Peacock of Rapid City, S.D.; and four sisters, Maryline (Fred) Deer of Logan, Ill., and Connie Peacock, Dorothy Peacock and Myrna Peacock, all of Rapid City.
Doug was born Feb. 10, 1954, in Mitchell, S.D., the son of Lloyd and Maryline (Christiansen) Peacock. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1972 and Mitchell Vocational Technical Institute in 1974. After graduating, he was recruited by Rockwell Collins, where he was currently an electronics technician.
Doug was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed canoeing and skiing. He was a member of the Eastern Iowa Ski Club and headed up Team Peacock for RAGBRAI.
His family and friends will greatly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd.
Because of Doug's love for outdoor activities, memorials may be sent to Camp Courageous, PO Box 418, Monticello, IA 52310-0418.
