Barbara Mitchell was born into our next world on Dec. 1, 2012.

Barbara was preceded by her parents, Joe and Doris Heath; and niece, Regina.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Ray; children, Jeff Mitchell, Lisa Mitchell and Laure Kottman; sisters, Arlene Heath and Jean Campbell; nephew, Ben Heath and his wife, Erin; and her four wonderful second nephews, Joe, Marcus, Russell and Luke who brightened her life with such happiness.

Barbara enjoyed her childhood in West Liberty (class of 1957) and moved to Cedar Rapids after her marriage to Ray. In addition to being an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and home manager, her last workplace was the Kirkwood Greenhouse Café, where she touched the lives of students away from home with her natural kindness.

Barbara was truly a gift in our lives. She fought her cancer so bravely to ease her family's pain, as always, thinking of others.

Barbara and her family so appreciate the compassion extended by her great friends both in the past year and always.

The family requests no flowers or plants please.

A service will be held at a later date.
