Nicholas J. Mitchell, 25, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. A funeral service celebrating Nick's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his parents, Suzanne and Mark Mitchell of Olathe, Kan.; brother, Zachary Mitchell of Olathe; grandparents, Ron Kula of Cedar Rapids and Mike and Joan Mitchell of Olathe; aunts and uncles, Bill Kula and Julie Palmer of Marion, Mike and Lori Mitchell of Cedar Rapids, Terry and Karen Mitchell of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lynn and Rich Killeen of Lenexa, Kan.; longtime girlfriend, Chelsea Jack; his niece, Tatum; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sharon Kula.
Nicholas Joseph Mitchell was born April 5, 1988, in Shawnee Mission, Kan., the son of Mark and Suzanne (Kula) Mitchell. After graduating from high school, he worked in the flooring and construction field as well as tele-marketing for several years. Nick was an excellent athlete in both football and basketball.
He enjoyed working at Uncle Bill's acreage with Grandpa Ron, had a heart of gold and lived life to the fullest.
He will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
