Hanover, Roy M.
Roy M. Hanover, 83, of Palo, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids, where visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today. The Rev. David Grandon will officiate. Burial: Palo Cemetery, Palo.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald L. Hanover and wife Pat of Marengo, Dean Allen Hanover and wife Sherry of Cedar Rapids and Douglas R. Hanover and wife Donna of Palo; and a daughter, Linda Hanover of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Charlotte Mae Hanover.
Roy was born March 21, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Roy and Elda Hanover. He married Charlotte Mae Hepker on Feb. 21, 1948, in Palo, Iowa. Roy worked for FMC in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Palo. He served in the Navy during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart Award.
He enjoyed reading, fishing and hunting.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
