Tomanka, Betty 'Beth' L.
Betty “Beth” L. Tomanka, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at her home.
Betty was born March 22, 1938, at Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Telford and Agnes (Solem) Barth. She married Gordon Alex Berg in February 1958 in Minnesota. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1964. She married Donald Tomanka Sr. Sept. 19, 1970, in Chicago. Betty graduated from Capri Beauty School, was a beautician in Cedar Rapids from 1962 to 1971, worked at Les Dolls Boutique in Waterloo, and also in the floral department at the Cedar Falls Hy-Vee Store.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Tomanka Sr. of Cedar Falls; three sons, Donald (Vicky) Tomanka Jr. of Marion, Scott (Shelly) Berg of Modesto, Calif., and Ronald (Terri) Tomanka of Mansfield, Texas; two daughters, Pam (Brad) Myhr of Waterloo, and Connie Trout of Marion; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and first husband; a grandson, Miles Trout; a great-grandson, Dane Aaden Myhr; and her brother, Wayne Barth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with entombment at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before the service Fridayat the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family or Cedar Valley Hospice.
