Goodson, Gladys L.
Gladys L. Goodson, 89, of 15 Aloha Dr., Hiawatha, died at her home on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, after a sudden illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Weig; two grandsons, Jeff (Jo) Weig and Jim Weig, both of Swisher; and a sister, Gerry Cady of Covington. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Lindsey.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Gladys was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Walker, the daughter of Walter and Alta (Andrews) Waterbury. She married Merle V. Goodson on Nov. 6, 1942, in Bethany, Mo. He died in 2001.
Gladys was a member of the Optimists of Hiawatha. She enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, boating, watching and feeding birds and the time she and her family spent at their cabin near Guttenberg. She also loved to cook, sew, crochet and crafts.
Gladys was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous in Gladys' name.
Due to the recent construction it is required that visitors to Cedar Memorial enter making a right turn from westbound First Avenue (heading toward downtown).
