Volz, Vera G.
Vera G. Volz, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids. Public Graveside service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of the Last Supper, with the Rev. William Harnish officiating. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Grace (Prickett) Bogart (Donald) of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Jerald Bogart of Indianola, Daniel Bogart (Vickie) of Waterloo and Steven Bogart (Lynette Millett) of Alexandria, Va.; two great-grandchildren; stepsons, Kenneth A. Volz (Catherine) and Jon O. Volz (Susan), both of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Volz; brother, Raymond Tonkinson; twin sister, Gladys Johnson; and great-grandson, Brady Bogart.
Vera G. Tonkinson was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Danville, Iowa, the daughter of Ross and Nellie (Wagner) Tonkinson. Vera graduated from Danville High School. On July 4, 1952, she married Kenneth E. Volz in Cedar Rapids. Since 1943, Vera has been a resident of Cedar Rapids, where she worked at Collins Radio for two years and Le Febure Corp. for 19 years, retiring in 1966.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
