Koehler, Raymond
Raymond Koehler, 91, of Oelwein, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ, Eastside, with Tony Arends officiating. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and one hour before services at the church on Friday. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein. Military Graveside Rites by the Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9.
A Memorial Fund has been established in his name.

Albert Raymond Koehler was born on Feb. 18, 1918, in rural Fayette County, the son of Albert John & Edith Louise (Gray) Koehler. He received his education at the rural Fayette County Schools. Ray was united in marriage to Maxine Marie Fauser on June 5, 1940, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Ray served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He farmed and had been a resident of Oelwein since 1956. He also worked at Meyer-Lincoln Hardware in Oelwein for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ Eastside and the Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9.
Ray is survived by his son, Bruce Koehler of Cedar Rapids; two daughters-in-law, Jane Koehler of Anoka, Minn., and Linda Koehler of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Angela (Curt) Klein of Cedar Rapids, Kimberly (Jason) Rayman of Newhall, Beth Koehler of Anoka, and Jon Koehler of Anoka; and
four great-grandchildren, Justin Plate of Newhall, Emily Klein of Cedar Rapids, Kaden Klein of Cedar Rapids, and Kaitlin Rayman of New-hall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine on April 13, 2004; and a son, Nyle on July 13, 2000.
