Schoner, Ethol A.
Ethol A. Schoner, 97, of 3118 Leonard Terr. NE, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital, the result of a fall. Services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Bob Voels will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Terry) Overhulser of Cedar Rapids, and a son, Richard (Linda) Schoner of DeLand, Fla. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Paul, and a sister, Bernice Stafford.
Ethol was born on Dec. 2, 1912, in Linn County, the daughter of Albert and Lela Ross Paul. She married Roy B. Schoner on Nov. 19, 1946, in Washington, Iowa. He died in 1985. During World War II Ethol was a jig assembler and welder at Iowa Steel and Iron Works. She was a life member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Ethol was a very compassionate, giving and wonderful person who will be greatly missed by her friends and beloved family.
