Purdy, Gerald L.
Gerald L. Purdy, 84, of Oelwein, died Wednesday morning, July 25, 2012, at his home. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, with military rites by Ross Reid American Legion Post 9 Honor Guard of Oelwein. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; three sons, Eugene (Joy) Purdy of Oelwein, Glen (Mary) Purdy of Cedar Rapids and DeWayne (Jolene) Purdy of Dike; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Purdy of Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, Ross Reid American Legion Post 9 or Cedar Valley Hospice.
