Reece, Clara G.
Clara G. Reece, 93, of Quasqueton, died Friday morning, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Buchanan County Long Term Care Center in Independence.
Clara was born April 3, 1919, in Center Point, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas P. and Mary K. (Nielsen) Thompson. She was married to Vernon D. Reece on May 1, 1938, in Manchester, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Lamont and Robison, Iowa areas before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1941. Clara was employed with Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids for 28 years before her retirement in 1975. After retirement, the couple moved to Quasqueton.
She was a member of the P-3 Retirees and the Hoover Church near Walker.
Clara is survived by two sons, Loren (Barbara) Reece and Wendell (Catherine) Reece, both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and her former daughters-in-law, Mary Reece and Carol Miller of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon D. Reece on May 18, 2002; four sisters, Minnie Andrews, Anna Thompson, Margaret Hughson and Christine Troxel; and three brothers, Carl Thompson, Glen Thompson and Antone Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Hoover Wesleyan Church, rural Walker, with burial in Circle Grove Cemetery next to the church. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church.
