Breyer, Steven 'Toad'
Steven “Toad” Breyer, 53, of Monticello, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at his residence after a long illness. Private graveside inurnment will occur at the Springville Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home is accommodating the family. Friends may gather at the Monticello Eagles Club at noon Tuesday, Sept. 3, for a time of reminiscing and lunch.
Steve was born Dec. 8, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Brad and Judy (Hargrave) Breyer. He graduated from Monticello High School with the class of 1978 and went on to Kirkwood Community College in a small engine mechanics program. He worked for Farmstead Builders, Smothers Equipment, and most recently Star Equipment in Cedar Rapids until 2009, when illness and disability forced his retirement.
Toad loved to go duck and goose hunting and has been involved with demolition derbies since he was 17 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Breyer, a brother, Kenny Breyer, and a special cousin, Adam Koch, all of Monticello; several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Brad; and grandparents, Ken and Sara Hargrave and Nick and Ollie Breyer.
