Wegman, Anne Lewis (Taylor)
Anne Lewis (Taylor) Wegman, 90, of Anamosa, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa on Friday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Friends may call starting at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa.
Surviving are her children, Angie (Roger) Baker of Cedar Rapids, Kathy (Bob) Ellett of Iowa City and Joe (Dawn) Wegman of Iowa City; eight grandchildren, Heather Johnston of Plano, Texas, Travis (Amy, fiance) Baker of Grapevine, Texas, Austin Baker, Bhutan, Brian (Melissa) Ellett, Michael Ellett, Jacob Ellett, Daniel (Bobbie) Wegman and Jon Wegman, all of Iowa City; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Robert Taylor of Smithfield, Va.; sisters Elizabeth Miller of Ellicott, Md., and Louise Felts of Ivor, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in February 1986.
Anne Lewis Taylor was born March 7, 1920, in Franklin, Va., the daughter of Bob Pate Taylor and Annie Lewis Barlow. She was a graduate of Ivor High School and attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va. Anne took a position with the Civil Service following graduation from college. On Jan. 10, 1951, Anne and Leonard Wegman were united in marriage in Washington, D.C. The couple moved to Anamosa in 1951. Anne was an officer and active member of the Jones Regional Medical Center auxiliary, member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Auxiliary, Ophelian Club and Wapsie-Ana Card Club. She was a faithful community volunteer. Anne was a wonderful friend and mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the JRNC Auxiliary and Camp Courageous.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
