Halabi, Michel T.
Michel T. Halabi, 68, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Jude Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Immediately following the graveside service the family will be having a dinner at the Shores Event Center.
Michel Tannous Halabi was born Oct. 7, 1944, to Tannous and Afife Ghaby Halabi in Tyre, Lebanon. He was united in marriage to Marlene M. Khairallah on July 26, 1975, in Liberia, Africa. Michel worked as warehouse manager at Great Furniture Mart for many years.
He was a family man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marlene; daughters, Scarlet (Pierre) Daoud of Peoria, Ill., Carmen Halabi of St. Louis, Mo., and Andrea L. Halabi of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Rafael and Ryan Daoud; siblings, Nicolas (Nazha) Halabi, George (Latife) Halabi, Salma Sassine, Souad Sassine, Laurice (Pierre) El Hajj and Georgette Abd; and many nieces, nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Michel was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
