Victim in crash on 380 a resident of Iowa City
One person was killed Friday after being struck by a semi truck on northbound interstate 380 near North Liberty.
Iowa State Patrol says the victim is 55 years-old, from Iowa City, the name is being withheld pending notification.
According to authorities a semi tractor trailer driven by 52 year-old Kenneth Pilkenton of Arnold Mo., was traveling north on I-380, near the 5 mile marker, when the driver of a vehicle parked on the shoulder exited and stepped into the path of the semi. Pilkenton tried to brake and steer away but was unable to avoid the pedestrian.
The investigation is ongoing by the State Patrol and Johnson County Sheriff's Office
