Enjoying a (spring) break

MARION - Spring is approaching. Birds are chirping, snow is melting and spring break is here.
Spring break is a huge time for vacation, considering there is no school and lots of people go out of the city, state or maybe even country. This year the Marion High School choir and band are taking a trip to Texas during spring break, which starts Monday.
This trip includes stops in many different cities, such as San Antonio, Frisco and Mansfield.
The choir and band are very excited to be taking this trip. Isabelle Webber, a junior, is especially excited because this will be her last trip with the music department at Marion.
'It's really sad, but exciting,” Webber said. 'It probably won't hit me until I'm a senior, though, because I'm not as worried about the future right now.”
At the end of the last school year, the choir and band voted on which destination they preferred out of choices like California, Washington D.C., New York or Texas. A lot of people voted for Texas because, of all of the trips, it was the cheapest and had less travel than somewhere like California.
'I was hoping we could go somewhere else at first, such as California, but learning more about the Texas trip and what it has to offer makes me excited to go there and be with all of my friends.” Webber said with a smile.
The choir and band have to drive in a charter bus to Texas.
'I'm looking forward to the trip, but I'm not looking forward to the bus ride,” Webber said.
The total amount of time from Marion to San Antonio is 22 hours.
'At least we will be on a charter bus and not a regular bus,” Webber said. 'But that long of a trip is going to be uncomfortable no matter what way you travel.”
Whether you're going to the Great Wall of China, New York City, Texas or just staying in Iowa, spring break is a good time away from school to just relax and catch up on some much needed sleep.
