Juvan, Frank R.
Frank R. Juvan, 85, of North Liberty passed away May 8, 2011, at his home.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from noon to 2 p.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Family graveside services will be at the West Branch Cemetery. Reverend Jeff DeBoer of Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church in North Liberty will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice. Frank was born October 23, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of John and Celia (Pestivsek) Juvan. He was an instructor for the Army Air Corps at the University of Iowa during World War II. He married Dorothy L. Ambrose on June 12, 1945. They were later divorced. In 1976, he married Joyce O. Barkalow. He worked for Chrysler Corporation and McGurk-Meyers Motors in Coralville, retiring in 1998.
Frank is survived by his wife, Joyce. He is also survived by his son, Frank T. (Judith) Juvan of Iowa City; daughter, Patricia (Dr. Michael) Deters of Waterloo; stepsons, Jeff Barkalow of Cedar Rapids, Doug Barkalow of Iowa City, Curt (Kathy) Barkalow of Oxford; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
