DeBoer, Leon B.
Leon B. DeBoer, 49, of Iowa City, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Leon DeBoer Memorial Fund.
Leon was born on Oct. 8, 1963, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of Theran and Wilma Schuiteman DeBoer. He was raised and grew up in Doon, Iowa. Leon served in The United States Army and was honorably discharged. He also worked for many years at the Iowa City Shelter House as a case manager.
Survivors include his daughter, Sydney Grace DeBoer of Iowa City; two brothers, Alan DeBoer (Viola) of Doonand Paul DeBoer of Rock Valley; three sisters, Beth Flier (Joel) of Brandon, S.D., Carla Roozing (Dan) of Rock Valley and Amy Ver Burg (David) of Rock Valley; ex-wife, Patricia Marie Kinney-Jones (Matthew) of Coralville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Arloa DeBoer; and his stepmother, Lillian Van De Berg.
