Beltz, Gwen J. Bressler
Gwen J. Bressler Beltz, 92, a resident of the Meth-Wick community, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her children, Dick Bressler and wife Paula of Broomfield, Colo., Allen Bressler and wife Sandra of Cedar Rapids, Myrna Gilliatt and husband Craig of Cedar Rapids, Jo Ann Lane and husband Roger of Marion, Vicky Nelson and husband Rick of Broomfield, Colo., and Cathy Klima and husband Kim of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Wesley Knight of Roseville, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard Bressler and Marvin Beltz; sister, Dorothy Widstrand; and grandson, Ryan Walker Lane.
Gwyneth Jane Bressler Beltz was born May 25, 1918, in Marion, the beloved daughter of Chester and Laverne (Smith) Knight. She was united in marriage to Richard Bressler on Jan. 1, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, he died in 1967. She later married Marvin T. Beltz on May 26, 1972, in Cedar Rapids, he died in 2004. Gwen was employed for several years as a medical assistant. She was a former member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church. Winters were spent in Apache Junction, Ariz.
She was a talented artist, especially oil painting landscapes and various craft activities. She greatly loved time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staffs of the Meth-Wick Community and Hospice of Mercy.
A memorial fund has been established in Gwen's honor.
