Marshburn, Sandra Marie Newell

Mrs. Sandra Marie Newell Marshburn, 71, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at Agape Hospice in Columbia. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at India Hook United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Gaither officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Marshburn was a daughter of the late Robert Keith Newell and the late Vivian Swan Newell. She was a longtime volunteer with the United Way and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2004. She was a member of India Hook United Methodist Church and was a fanatical Iowa football fan. She was the widow of Billy Wayne Marshburn.

Surviving are her sons, Bob Marshburn (Ina) of Rock Hill and Gary Marshburn (Susan) of Greenville, S.C.; her daughter, Kerri Smith (Cye) of Rock Hill; her brother, Larry Newell (Monica) of Omaha, Neb.; her sisters, Patty Cogswell (Bill) of Columbus, Ohio and Susie Coolican of Horseheads, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Justin Marshburn, Brindle Smith and Eli Smith.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, S.C.
