Hours before the explosions in Brussels, the director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority had departed from the airport during a European trade mission.
'There is a somber sense in Europe,” said Debi Durham, who is from Sioux City, as she continued the business trip in Germany.
Durham is traveling in Europe this week on business and trade missions on behalf of the state of Iowa. After meeting Monday with officials in Brussels, she boarded a flight at the airport there about 7 p.m. Her next stop was Frankfurt, Germany, where she watched in horror as news reports of the attacks unfolded Tuesday.
