Shuka, Walter William 'Bill'
Walter William “Bill” Shuka, 84, of Marion, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Noelridge Park Baptist Church by Pastor Mike Mosier. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; four children, Donnalee (Jim) Mathias of Birmingham, Iowa, Mike (Ginny) Shuka of Bemidji, Minn., Bob (Becky) Shuka of Ames and Janice (John) Wilbur of Fairfield; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brian, Amanda, Michael, Tyler, Jonathan, Josiah, Matthew, Joseph and Stephen; and one great-grandchild, Noah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eleanor Hartig; and one grandson, Ryan Mathias.
Bill was born April 1, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Walter and Jenny Louise (Hartt) Shuka. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. Bill attended Bible College in St. Louis and on Aug. 25, 1951, he married Elizabeth Donnelly in Waukegan, Ill. Bill was an ordained minister for over 40 years.
