Top 10 Iowa Bike to Work Week employers
May. 17, 2010 4:07 pm
It's Bike to Work Week, and you know what to do. Time to trade out four wheels for two – if only for a few days.
More than 1,800 people representing 603 companies in Iowa have pledged to at least try biking to work this week, according to the folks over at the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. Top participating employers include a couple local companies. The list:
1. Grinnell College, 82 registered riders
2. Rockwell Collins, 80 registered riders
3. Wells Fargo, 71 registered riders
4. Principal Financial Group, 70 registered riders
5. RDG Planning & Design, 51 registered riders
6. AEGON, 49 registered riders
7. Iowa Department of Transportation, 48 registered riders
8. Hy-Vee, 44 registered riders
9. Snyder and Associates, Inc., 43 registered riders
10. Iowa State University, 32 registered riders
You know I'm a big fan of bike commuting. Bottom line: It's cheap, it's good for the environment and for the cyclist, and it's a lot of fun – even more so this week.
The
Iowa Bicycle Coalition has put together
this list of events, including perks like free breakfasts and bus rides for bike commuters, and organized bike rides. Check 'em out.
