Kirk Ferentz on combines for middle school football players

Public radio station WFAE-FM in Charlotte, N.C., had an interesting report recently on middle school kids attending football combines.
Is it a necessary evil? Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz, who was interviewed for the story, said no. It may not be a popular opinion in some circles.
Ferentz talks about how he worries about young people specializing in just one sport, saying they're missing on other opportunities. It's a good interview from someone who isn't just a coach, but a parent of five, including sons who were multi-sport standouts in high school.
"You've got to let kids be kids," Ferentz said in the interview. Good for him.
The Ferentz interview lasts almost eight minutes and is linked near the bottom of the story at the WFAE site. Click here to go there.
Scott Graf conducted the interview. Thanks to Scott for sharing it with me. If any of you have stories/videos/audios that you think would be of interest to the readers here, never hesitate to pass them along.
