Wayne Allen Reif, 61, of Walker, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
He was born Aug. 9, 1952, in Iowa City, the son of Lubert and Wilma (Kadera) Reif. He lived in Homestead before moving to Fairfax and graduated from Prairie High School.
Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Feb. 26, 1971, and served his country until he was honorably discharged on Feb. 25, 1975. He married Marlene Netolicky in October 1971. Two children were born to this union. They later divorced.
On Sept. 27, 1986, he was united in marriage to Rita Luerkens. After their marriage they lived in Cedar Rapids for over 20 years before moving to Walker. Wayne worked for Krob Elevator in Ely and then Highway Equipment. He went to school at Kirkwood Community College and received a degree in welding. Wayne then worked for Universal Gym Equipment in Cedar Rapids. He also worked at Rockwell Goss and Iowa Manufacturing at the same time. He remained with Iowa Manufacturing for over 15 years.
Wayne loved to do woodworking and made baby cribs and cradles for his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of Walker; six children, Michelle (Terry Andersen) Reif of Ely, Jamie (Amber) Reif of Newhall, Brandon Reif of Des Moines, Shane (Dawn Crawford) Beckman of Hiawatha, Casey (Nick) DeBrower of Marion and Brent (Gina Holmstedt) Beckman of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Skyla, Austin, Ashlyn, Clayton, Carter, Cole, Maddie and Ryan; three brothers, Arnie (Carol) Reif of Conroy, Lloyd (Shelly) Reif of Fairfax and Dale (Kandy) Reif of Clarence; and two aunts, Doris (Ernie) Mouchka of Swisher and Leona (Ray) Schramek of Solon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Veronica Reif, in infancy.

Graveside service, with military rites: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the gravesite.
