Salehoglu, Abdurahman 'Abe'
Abdurahman “Abe” Salehoglu, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at St. Luke's Living Center West in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Feb. 15, 2011 at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with Iman Tahir officiating. Burial will be in the Islamic Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Abe was born on Jan. 25, 1919, in the former U.S.S.R. In 1940, Abe married Anna Polikova in Luxemburg, Germany. The couple came to the United State in 1951. Abe worked at Iowa Manufacturing as a machinist, before retiring in 1981.
Abe enjoyed walking and jogging and talking with his family and friends. He loved helping those in need and respected all faiths.
Abe is survived by his three children, Hayder (Diane) Salehoglu of Cedar Rapids, Holly (Don) Richards of Cedar Rapids, and Aminet (Ike) Madni of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Abe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and one sister.
Abe will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
