Grover, Mary Joan
Mary Joan Grover, 77, of Solon, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St. Private family burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at Brosh Chapel in Solon.
Mary was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Waterloo, the daughter of Allen J. and Irma I. (Goss) Peverill. She married Robert Grover on Oct. 25, 1953, in Waterloo. Mary worked many years as a secretary at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She enjoyed camping and trout fishing in Northern Iowa, crocheting, collecting Fenton milk glass and watching Court TV. She also spent many hours on Facebook and playing online solitaire.
Mary is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob); children, Steve (Marilyn) of Solon, Nat Grover LaCroix (Karen Sheldon) of Iowa City, Barbara Grover of Fort Worth, Texas, and Randy (Kris) of Elkader; grandchildren, Paul (Donna) LaCroix, Rob LaCroix, Lyndsi (Neven) Price, Casey (Sara) Grover and Sondra Grover; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis, Christian, Madison, Kaylee and Kynnedi; a sister, Bonnie Christensen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Peverill; and a grandson, Corey Grover.
