Three things to do this weekend

The dog days of summer are coming to the Bever Park pool in southeast Cedar Rapids this weekend, with the fifth annual K9Splash! Pooches ages 4 months and up are welcome to swim. Owners, age 10 and above and at least 48 inches tall, are welcome to watch, however each dog must be accompanied by an adult handler age 18 or older. The City of Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department and K9COLA are co-sponsoring the event, which raises funds for off-leash areas where dogs can romp any day. And don't worry - the pool will have closed for the season, so the only ones doing the dog-paddle are the canines.
