Gun control may reduce gun violence

In response to Lan Nowotny's July 21 letter 'People, not guns, capable of violence,” the term 'gun violence” is not a stupid or deliberate misnomer. To me it means, an occurrence of violence that involved guns. It is not propaganda. It's merely fact.
My church in the Wellington Heights neighborhood was a victim of your 'human violence with a gun.” That incident hit a little to close to home for me. That shooter had no regard for the innocent children, families and church members in the area he terrorized. If we don't do something, anything, like enhanced background checks, or limits on the type of firearm people can possess, or the repealing the concealed weapons idiocy, where will it end?
I don't want to take away your guns, but I don't understand why anyone would oppose these simple measures that would make, at least, me feel safer. I would rather live peacefully and without fear in what you would term as a 'socialist society” than in anarchy where dangerous people can readily possess a gun or in one with marauding militia types.
