Residents are already overtaxed

To the editor:
Surprises seem to happen all too often with the world class library. Remember the almost $500,000 extra cost needed to clean up the unforeseen asbestos? Now, it's surprise once again on the cost of operation.
Have we forgotten that earlier this year the state of Iowa imposed a 10 cents per gallon gas tax? Then came the road tax to fix streets in Cedar Rapids. Now comes this library tax.
It's been touted by proponents for this tax that it's the equivalent of buying two books a year. I have a computer and Internet service. I can find anything I need in the safety of my home.
