Cochran, Larry R.
Larry R. Cochran, 69, of rural Oxford, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin. Burial will follow at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m.
Larry Richard Cochran was born June 8, 1941, in Iowa City, the son of John and Leona (Schropp) Cochran. He graduated with the class of 1959 from City High School in Iowa City. He had married Juanita Frese, and later married Gail Rogers on June 4, 1998, in Iowa City. Larry has spent his entire life in this area - he farmed, worked for Amana Refrigeration, and was in insurance sales.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Canopy Lodge A.F. & A.M., and the Shriners.
His family includes his wife, Gail; two children, Jeff Cochran (Chris) of Oxford and Lisa Feinberg (Phil) of Fort Madison; three grandchildren, Tanner and Shelby Cochran and Arron Feinberg; two brothers, John J. Cochran (Carol) of Iowa City and Dan Cochran (Mary) of Ankeny; and one sister, Rebecca Umland (Sam) of Kearney, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Paula.
A memorial fund has been established in Larry's memory.
